Hi,
I've played at films on video before and have seriously considered buying a Super8 often. I am now pretty determined to mount a relatively serious production in June. But I still don't have a clue about some issues.
Mainly, sound and editing, editing I suppose could be achieved by cutting and sticking, but how does one add satisfactory, that is nicely audible sound and music too.
I won't have access to studio facilities, so does one pay for it to be converted to video and then add the sound, using some sort of mixing disk. One records the sound how exactly?
My main trouble is that I mostly want to spend my meagre resources on the production, not on the hardware.
Thanks,

You're obviously not a millionaire, so do it on video. If you're shooting 16mm transfer the negative to video. Record the sound using a regular portable cassette recorder, or a hi-8 camera -- mix the sound using a basic sound mixer. Concentrate on a fine script and don't forget the importance of lighting each shot.

Thanks alot, for advice. I should have an excellent script and I will take care lighting.
So, one plugs the recorded tape into the VCR and adds the sound? one can dub over the video transfer using a mixer and VCR without effecting the picture?
Thanks,

VHS has two audio tracks. When you edit, you could take the dialog from whatever source and put that on track one and music on track two. WHen you get to sound effects you have to juggle them a bit.
